Issues

NOW is a multi-issue, multi-strategy organization that takes a holistic approach to women’s rights. Our priorities are winning economic equality and securing it with an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that will guarantee equal rights for women; championing abortion rights, reproductive freedom and other women’s health issues; opposing racism; fighting bigotry against the LGBTQIA community; and ending violence against women.

Constitutional Equality

Florida NOW fights for equality in pay, job opportunities, political structure, social security and education will remain elusive without a guarantee of equality in the U.S. Constitution.

Economic Justice

Florida NOW advocates for wide range of economic justice issues affecting women including a living wage, job discrimination, pay equity, social security and pension reform & more.

Freedom from Violence

Florida NOW is unique in its approach to the issue of violence against women, emphasizing the interrelated factors and complexity of the issue.

LGBTQ Rights

Florida NOW is committed to fighting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in all areas, including employment, housing, health services, and child custody.

Racial Justice

Florida NOW continues to fight for equal opportunities for women of color in all areas including employment, education & health care.

Reproductive Rights

Florida NOW fully supports access to safe and legal abortion, to effective birth control and emergency contraception, to reproductive health services and education for all women.

The Senate confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court in a 53-47 vote.

It’s a historic moment. Jackson is not only the first Black woman to serve on the Court, but also the first justice since Thurgood Marshall with significant experience as a public defender.
